"Parlant amb les pedres", és un projecte de recerca integrat dins del paisatge cultural de Calders (Bages). Aquest projecte es va iniciar a l'estiu del 2010 amb una residència a l’espai de treball de CACIS (Centre d’art contemporani i sostenibilitat del forn de la calç). L'exposició es conforma a partir de dos elements: una instal•lació permanent al bosc de CACIS, realitzada durant el període de residència de 2010 i una instal•lació temporal als espais interiors d’exposició.
D'on ve el títol de "Parlant amb les pedres"? De l’observació de l’entorn, als Camps i boscos de Calders es pot trobar una gran diversitat construccions de pedra, murs i edificis. Les parets són d'ús freqüent en l'agricultura per fer terrasses en les empinades muntanyes i assegurar la terra i les plantacions. Un element mes destacable son els petits edificis de pedra (barraques de vinya), principalment utilitzats per l'emmagatzematge d'eines i aliments per les persones que estaven treballant al camp i amb el paisatge, estan fetes amb pedres que s'amunteguen sense utilitzar cap morter. Les pedres són elegides per la seva forma i mida per fer que aquestes construccions siguin sòlides. Es triga molt de temps abans de poder treballar amb les pedres i entendre com usar-les, però al final les persones que feien aquests murs i construccions al moment veien on col•locar la pedra que prenien, i semblava que "podien parlar amb les pedres". En el temps de la residencia vaig estudiar les plantes locals i la vida animal, els antecedents històrics i l'ús actual dels voltants, parlant amb la gent , els agricultors, pastors i algun historiador, això va motivar les instal•lacions que al final es veuen a l’actual exposició de CACIS. A l'espai expositiu interior es situen una sèrie de instal•lacions que se centren en la interacció amb l'home i la natura, no només física sinó també mentalment. En la instal•lació a l'exterior les pedres s'utilitzen en la seva forma natural, però a les instal•lacions interiors vull investigar el seu significat interior, l'ànima de les pedres. El que jo faig servir al costat de les pedres, son les plantes que creixen entre elles i que tenen una forta connexió, per exemple, el romaní, una planta que ja era coneguda pels romans per activar la memòria (utilitzat invisible en la instal•lació de les formes de les orelles d'argila sobre les pedres), el Boix, símbol de la seva immortalitat (fins i tot a l'hivern, aquesta planta es manté verda ) i algues (que representen en conjunt amb el líquid pedres coagulada = pensaments solidificada) que es troben en els petits torrents a on s'erosionen les roques. També s’utilitzen els materials trobats en aquestes instal•lacions, l'ús alienant de l'home es forma de la combinació amb les formes naturals i posa en dubte la relació de l'home i la natura. Del treball amb la roba, per exemple, com els pantalons (utilitzats quan treballava en aquesta exposició) dóna identitat als materials (pedres) en combinació amb ells, les pedres ja no són inerts, comencen a formar part de les condicions de vida.

"Parlant amb les pedres" "Hablando con las piedras" "Parlant amb les pedres" is a research project to the cultural landscape of the Calders region. This project has started during the summer of 2010 with a residence at CACIS. The exhibition exist out of two elements, a permanent installation in the forest of El Centre d'art i Sostenibilitat del Forn de Calc made during the residence period of 2010 and a temporarily indoor installation. Where does the title "Parlant amb les pedres" (Speaking with stones) comes from? In the Calders region there can be found a big diversity of stone-walls and buildings. The walls are often used in the agriculture to make terraces on the steep mountains for plantations. Beside the walls there can be found places where the stones are used in the constructions. The stone-walls and buildings (mainly used for storage of tools and food by the people that were working on the field) in the landscape, are made with stones that are piled up without using any mortar. The stones are chosen by their form and size to make these solid constructions. It takes a long time before you can work with the stones and understand how to use them. The people that were making these walls and constructions could take up a stones and saw immediately where they had to place them, they "could speak with the stones". Indoor and outdoor isntallation During the residence I studied the local plant and animal life, the historical background and the current use of the surrounding by speaking with locals, farmers, shepherds and historian. In the indoor exhibition space of CACIS there can be found a range of installations. In this installations I focus on the interaction with man and nature, not only physical but also mentally. In the outdoor installation the stones are used in their natural form but in the inside installations I want to investigate their inner meaning, the souls of the stones. Thereby I use beside the stones, plants that grow in between the stones and that have a strong connection with these stones. For example Rosemary, a plant that was already known by the Romans to activate the reminder (used invisible in the installation with the ear-forms of clay on stones), local found Boxwood, symbolic for his immortality (even in winter this plant remains green) and algae (representing together with the stones coagulated liquid = solidified thoughts) found in the small rivers that are eroded in the rocks. Not only natural found materials are used in this installations, the alienating use of man made forms in combination with natural forms question the relationship of man and nature. Working with clothes for example, like the pants (used while working on this exhibition) gives identity to the materials(stones) combined with it, the stones are no longer nonliving, they start to become part of the living environment.
